What Is Reclamite?
RECLAMITE is a specially formulated cationic emulsion of petroleum resins and selected petroleum fractions that reconstitutes and prolongs the life of asphalt pavements.
As asphalt ages, wind, sun, weather and traffic all work to make chemical changes to the pavement. Dryness and brittleness set in. RECLAMITE Rejuvenator works to put back the maltenes and chemicals fractions that have been lost in the aging process.
Unlike some sealants, which merely cover the asphalt surface, RECLAMITE penetrates the surface up to 3/8 of an inch, restoring flexibility and ductility. By putting these maltenes and fractions back into the asphalt, the effects of aging can be reversed. Subsequent regular applications of RECLAMITE every four to six years can prolong the pavement life indefinitely.
How Is Coherex Applied?
RECLAMITE Preservative Seal is applied by CORRECTIVE ASPHALT MATERIALS with a distributor truck. It is vital that uniformity of spread be maintained. We obtain this by using a spreader bar with spray tips of equal capacity arranged to deliver the fluid in a single, overlapping pattern. RECLAMITE is always diluted with water before application. The amount of emulsion to be applied to the pavement will vary based on the amount of time a given amount of product will penetrate the surface of the asphalt pavement. To determine the correct amount of emulsion to use, a series of ring tests are conducted on the pavement to be treated. (To find out more about ring tests , click over to Services. ) On roadways, adequate traffic control is paramount to the success of a RECLAMITE rejuvenation operation. Vehicles and pedestrians need to be kept off of the pavement until the RECLAMITE has penetrated, and the area has been adequately sanded. Sanding is not needed on areas that may be closed for several days (i.e., parking lots).
